On the Boats:
An optional jackpot for biggest fish (excluding sharks & rays) will be collected by the deckhand at the beginning of the trip, typically it is $5. All our boats have hot galleys and make breakfast burritos & burgers. They also offer water sodas & beer, along with chips & candy. For these items, along with extra tackle setups, the deckhand will run a galley tab, and that will need to be paid up at the end of your trip. Gunny sacks for your fish are available on the boat for $2. A separate bag is required for each angler. Fish Cleaning: After the jackpot weigh-in, the deckhands will offer optional fish cleaning services. Charges vary from boat to boat. Plastic bags are provided on the boat for the fillets. All transactions on the boats are CASH ONLY.
Tackle Shop:
Virg’s Landing has the largest tackle shop on the Central Coast, located at 1169 Market Ave in Morro Bay. This is where you will check in for your sport fishing trip ONE HOUR BEFORE YOUR BOAT DEPARTS. At check in, we will take care of rod rental, tackle and licenses. A one day license is $15.69 – CASH OR CHECK ONLY.
We have a large selection of rods, reels and combos, both conventional & spinning, along with jigs, lead heads, swimbaits & terminal tackle. We also have all the items necessary for your boat trip: sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, sweatshirts & T-shirts, pliers, hand towels, and much more.
Basic Information
Rigid ice chests (i.e., plastic, Styrofoam) are not allowed to be brought on board the boats, due to safety and liability issues. Alcohol, narcotics (including medical marijuana), firearms & explosives are also not allowed to be brought on board the boats.
Safety & Security – Operating under the jurisdiction of the Coast Guard, TSA and State Maritime guidelines (and for your safety), we are required to be proactive in searching carry-on items, prior to boarding the boat. Searches can be random or at a deckhand’s discretion, and are not based on race, gender, age or any other discriminating factors. Thank you for your cooperation.
Good Fishing Practices – Customers are responsible for keeping track of fish they keep. Once a fish has been placed in a gunny sack, it may not be removed and thrown back. If full limits of fish for all anglers are caught before the usual return time, the boat will come back early. Virg’s Landing practices sustainable fishing, and will not continue to fish when full limits have been achieved, as the fish cannot be kept and will die due to the change in pressure. Descending devices are required if fish are returned to the ocean.
