Please READ all TERMS AND CONDITIONS. By making a reservation and going aboard one of our boats you imply that you have read and understand all Terms and Conditions written here:
1. Trip Reservations
Virg's Landing offers several methods to make a RESERVATION:
- Make a reservation by phone.
- Make a reservation on-line.
- Make a reservation in person.
Making a reservation is relatively simple. We require the number of people in your party, the full name and solid contact phone number (the best one to get a hold of you on short notice) of the person making the reservations and for parties of five or more, a credit card number to secure the reservation.
PLEASE NOTE: Certain Trips such as
Salmon,
Albacore and certain
Rockcod Trips (
Overnight Rockcod) will be
PAID IN ADVANCE ONLY trips. These specific trips
MAY have separate
TERMS AND CONDITIONS in addition to these written here, which will be defined on their individual
Reservation Pages. Any
TRIP SPECIFIC TERMS AND CONDITIONS will supercede those written here, if there is any conflict of terms.
Refunds for Trips :
If the boat leaves the
Harbor and for some reason must return whether it be due to
mechanical difficulties, i
nclement weather or
any other situation beyond our control then each passenger will be given a
RAINCHECK good for a future trip of
EQUAL VALUE. There is
NO CASH VALUE to a
RAINCHECK. It may be used towards the purchase of a more expensive trip by simply paying the difference. If, however, you use it towards a trip of less value, that
RAINCHECK is considered
USED IN FULL and any excess value is lost.
If the boat, however,
DOES NOT leave the Harbor then a
FULL REFUND will be given.
CANCELLATIONS:
Overnight Rockcod, Salmon and Albacore Trips -
If you must cancel your reservation on a prepaid
Overnight Rockcod, Salmon or
Albacore Trip, you must give
AT LEAST 24 HOURS notice to get a
REFUND. Otherwise, we will send you a
RAINCHECK for a trip of
EQUAL value for later use. There is
NO CASH VALUE to a
RAINCHECK but there is also no expiration.
Daily Rockcod Trips -
On a
PRE PAID TRIP, you must cancel
AT LEAST 24 HOURS before the trip to get a refund. Please note that all reservations are held until
30 MINUTES before the scheduled departure time of the trip. If you have a reservation it will only be held until
30 MINUTES before departure before we allow
standby passengers to take the spaces. Please
ARRIVE and
CHECK IN at least 30 minutes before the trip is to shove off. If you
DO NOT show up on time you risk losing your spot and your fare.
Walk Ins-
We do allow
Walk Ins but without a
RESERVATION you risk the following:
- No space available on the boat.
- No Trip because of lack of confirmed reservations.
- No update on current conditions including weather, ocean and fishing.
- No notice that a trip was canceled or changed due to any of the above.
2. Alcohol
We sell beer aboard each one of our boats. We would like everyone to go out and have a good time but please
do not go with the intention of getting highly intoxicated while aboard. We would like everyone to feel secure and have
a good time and
any disturbance to that is
not welcome. NO ONE is allowed to bring their own alcohol aboard any
one of our boats at any time. If you are found trying to bring alcohol aboard you will be required to
stay ashore.
With that said, please go and have a good time!
Also,
NO GLASS BOTTLES are allowed on any boat!
3. Fishing and the dreaded Canary Rockfish
Please note that every angler aboard is required to
understand California Department of Fish and Game regulations regarding the types of fish you might be fishing for. If you are not sure what you can or cannot keep, please ask one of the crew. A few species of fish, of which the
Canary Rockfish is the most common, are not allowed to be kept. They are easily mistaken for other kinds of rockfish that can be kept so if you are not sure, please ask. Other species, mainly
Greenling,
Bocaccio,
Cabezon and
Lingcod have size and limit restrictions.
Help identifying the
Canary Rockfish is found here:
www.dfg.ca.gov/marine/pdfs/canary_id.pdf
4. Safety
All of our fishing vessels are
United States Coast Guard certified for safety. We carry an appropriate number of life preservers for the passenger capacity of each boat. If you should need special assistance for any reason, please let us know ahead of time so we can properly prepare. Please listen to the initial
SAFETY BRIEFING by the
Captain of the boat as you depart the Landing. There is important up to date information regarding the boat, the fishing you are going to be doing and other items of interest.
Also, please understand that the
Captain of each boat has ultimate control over everything on the boat while at sea. Their crew members, acting as a direct representative of the Captain, have the same power. Please follow directions from either the
Captain or
Crew in all instances. We take every precaution to make sure that our boat crews are polite, courteous and helpful. If you think the contrary to be true, please let us know.
5. Minimum Boat Loads and Cancelled Trips
We do have a
minimum passenger load requirement for each of our boats in order to cover the cost of the trip. We require at least a minimum amount of confirmed reservations in order to set up the trip(s) each day. If we do not have the
minimum required number of paying passengers
the morning of the trip we have two options:
- Cancel the Trip.
- Offer the passengers the opportunity to pay the difference of the missing fares, up to the minimum required.
We take every precaution to make sure we have enough confirmed reservations to get out the trip without difficulty. Occasionally we have had someone make a reservation, confirm that they are coming then not show up. This is usually when we run into problems the morning of a trip so
PLEASE call us if you can't make it, regardless of the time. You may leave us a message if it is after hours. We very much appreciate it when people let us know, even if it means possibly not getting a boat out.
Virg's Landing will only
CANCEL a trip due to either forecast or existing ocean conditions that would not be good for fishing, whale watching or any other type of trip
OR if we simply do not have enough confirmed reservations to set up the trip for that day
For
Daily Rockcod Trips or
Whale Watching Trips we decide
ONE HOUR before the closing time of the
Tackle Store the
DAY BEFORE if we have to
CANCEL any trip (please check
Tackle Store hours as it does vary during certain times of the year). This gives us the best opportunity to call everyone and let them know we might not be able to go.
For
Overnight Rockcod Trips and
Albacore Trips the time for us to cancel a trip, if necessary, will be determined within
24 hours of the trip so as to give maximum amount of time to contact reservation holders.
We will notify everyone who made a reservation by phone if a trip has to be cancelled. Please contact the
Tackle Store at
(805) 772-1222 with further questions regarding
Minimum Boat Loads.
6. Changes
Virg's Landing reserves the right the change any
Terms and Conditions without prior notice. We, however, will try to make every effort to update this website in a timely manner so that everyone can get the word!
